FLIGHT

Aim: To learn about flight and aerodynamics.

  • In your groups of 2, you will make a paper plane and measure its distance and behavior.
  • In groups of 2, you will make a water rocket and record its distance and behavior.

Definition:

4 forces of flight:

1. lift
2.gravity
3.drag
4.thrust

Paper Plane:

Material:

1. paper
2. paper clip

3. ruler

Steps:

Findings:

Plane Type
Distance
Behavior
Normal
3.0
Spinning
Ailerons
2.0Upwards,swooped-up and down

Paper clip

4.0Straight line.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, I learned that the paper plane with the paperclip flies further because of the fourth the paperclip as pulling it 4.0 Straight line. I learned that ailerons slow the plane down to land 2.0 Upwards,swooped-up and down. the normal plane flew 3.0 Spinning.
the plane with the ailerons flew the farthest.

Fabrics

In Fabrics, I had a chance to make whatever I wanted so I had a look around I saw a basic cactus shape that gave me an Idea to make a 3D cactus. My first job was to draw the plan for it. My second job was to make a mock-up for all the pieces I needed. My third job was to cut the material up and sew all the pieces together Here are some tools and techniques. I used hand stitching, needle sewing, sewing machine and running stitch. My final job was to put on the Finishing Touches.

Aim: To see which chemical
the mix creates the most gas.

Hypothesis: baking soda and vinegar

Materials:
  1.  3 Balloons
  2. 3 bottles
  3.   3 tsp baking soda,
  4.  ½ cup vinegar
  5.  3 tsp salt,
  6.  ½ cup soda
  7.  2 tsp yeast,
  8. 1 tsp sugar
  9. funnel
  10. warm water
Steps:
  1.  put all the liquid ingredients into the bottom of the funnel
  2.  put all the solid ingredients into the balloon
  3. quickly put the balloon on top of a bottle
  4.  wait 20 minutes and measurer in cm.
  5.  put information on the graph
My images:

Findings: baking soda and vinegar

Balloon 1
( 3 tsp baking soda, ½ cup vinegar)
Balloon 2
( 3 tsp salt, ½ cup soda)
Balloon 3
( 2 tsp yeast, 1 tsp sugar )
Balloon Size (cm)
20cm6/2cm13cm
Bubbles
a fewa fewheaps

Conclusion: I found the baking soda and vinegar raised the most. the yeast and sugar rises of the slowest. the last thing I learned is that all these mixtures release carbon dioxide

STOP.WRITE.HEAR

This is my group storyboard of STOP.WRITE.HEAR

our next step for today to create all the models and characters for the set.

Aim: To separate colours by using the process of chromatography.

Definition: Chromatography is a method of separating out materials from a mixture.
Eg. blood, ink, drugs,

Scenario
A crime has been committed. The police have a signed cheque and a letter from the same crime scene but it seems like the handwriting is different. They have 3 suspects but not enough evidence. They need to know if the letter and the cheque were written by the same person.

How do they tell if the pens used for both of these pieces of evidence are the same?

Rainbow paper

Materials;

1. cup
2. chromatography paper
3. water-based pens
4. water

Process:
Step 1: get chromatography paper one cm up the paper and pot water-based pen bots.
Step 2:  Get a cup to fill 1/2 cm of water on the bottom of it.
Step 3: wait for about 10 minutes.
Step 4: done should have a rainbow going up your paper

Conclusion: What have I learned from this experiment? black is the best color for doing this. purple is the second best color. there's such thing as chromatography paper.

10 household chemicals

Aim: To learn the names of 10 household chemicals and identify if they are a solid, liquid or a gas.

Definitions:

  1. Element; A single form of a chemical
  2. Compound: A mixture made up of 2 or more elements
  3. Reaction: A process in which chemicals mix together to form a new substance.
  4. Mixture: When two or more elements are mixed together.

Equipment:

  1.    devices
  2. 10 ingredients listed down below
Steps:

1. Create a table
2.Research
3.Information on table
4. Blog posts

Repeat the steps for all the chemicals.

Task 1: Put the 10 chemicals in a chart with the titles - Name, Chemical ingredient(s), Image, Solid/Liquid/Gas.
