As the world’s population booms from the present seven billion to more than nine billion, we will not be able to farm meat as we have done up to now.
There won’t be enough space for all the animals we would need plus their methane emissions could cause unsustainable environmental damage.

Artificial Intelligence

Computers will be as good at problem-solving as humans, with the prospect of soon surpassing us.
Then the question will be whether we let them take control or try to regulate and modify artificial intelligence. Or genetically modify humans so we can compete with machines.
Our decisions could have profound effects on world order. If the West chooses to regulate its machines, it could be at a disadvantage compared to countries that allow computers to develop unchecked.

Hurumanu- The future

Aim; To look at the different ways we can prevent climate change in the future.



What places will be affected? homes near the coast

What else do we need to think about? greenhouse gas

What other places around NZ will be affected? places close to the coast

What does this do to our drinking water? saltwater will get into the good water

What are the main concerns? the freshwater gets infected with saltwater and the flooding houses

What can we do?
  1.  use public transport
  2.    more fuel-efficient vehicles
  3.    the warehouse smart energy efficient 

What is the one, silver bullet solution? there isn't one



What is the mix of things we need to start doing?
  1.  use public transport
  2.   to walk
  3.   if buying a new car get a hybrid or electric

    Hurumanu Water cycle

    AIM: TO LEARN ABOUT WATER ON EARTH.

    Scientific words:

    • Evaporation. When water is heated by radiant energy it turns into water vapor.
    • Transpiration. Evaporation from plants.
    • Condensation. When water vapor cools, molecules join together and form clouds.
    • Precipitation. When clouds get heavy the waters falls as rain, sleet, hail, or snow.
    • Acidification: the action or process of making or becoming acidic.

    in conclusion, the tin foil Cup heated up because of the tin foil is metal and metal conduct the heat

    Hurumanu - Renewable Energy

    Aim: To make a solar-powered oven.

    Materials: 

    1.   sellotape
    2.   tinfoil
    3.   pizza box
    4.   black plastic
    5.   vivid
    6.   ruler
    7.   stick
    8. newspaper
    9. Glad Wrap
    10. scissors
    11. marshmallow
    12. chocolate biscuit 
    Steps:
    1.   cut a hole on the top of the pizza box
    2.   put tin foil on the flat that you cut out of the pizza box
    3.   put Glad wrap on the inside of the pizza box of the whole that you cut out
    4.   put black plastic on the bottom of the pizza box on the inside
    5.   turn the newspaper into rolls and put them on the sides and corners for insulation
    6.   Sellotape everything in place

    Hurumanu- wind power



    Measuring weather.

    Definitions:

    MATERIALS 

    1. 4 dishes
    2.   2 stick
    3. tape 
    4. 1 pencil 
    5. 1 pin

    Groups size: 5 

    Roles:
    • Timekeeper (Taylor)
    • Counter(Andrei)
    • Recorder (Me)
    • Anemometer Manager (JC)
    • Wind Manager (Me)
    1. Mount the anemometer in a place that has full access to the wind from all directions.
    2. When the timekeeper says "Go", the counter in each group will count how many times the marked cup passes them in one minute and write it down.
    3. Repeat the above step four (4) times and record the number of spins on the chart.

    FINDINGS

    • Record how many times it spins and record it in the table below.
    • You will need to time them and count the number of spins.

      ACIDIFICATION

      DEFINITION: when chemicals are added to the ocean that makes acid

      1. What is happening to the oceans? 
      • One-third of the cadidioxide is getting trapped in the ocean.
      • The carbon is making the ocean acidified.

      2. What does this do to shellfish?
      •  make the shells cause too much carbon dioxide in the way
      HOW DOES CLIMATE CHANGE CONTRIBUTE TO THE ACIDIFICATION OF OUR OCEANS? factories release chemicals that make acid and that rain same puts the chemicals in the water
